If you know me, you know how much I love books, stories, talking, reading, writing, and bringing people together. So, you won't be surprised that I've created a live literature night in Dewsbury.
Why Dewsbury?
I moved here in July and I want a literary event nearby. I also want to get to know Dewsbury. What better way to do it than to bring people together over events where authors read to us, we eat good food, and we have a chance to talk?
Dewsbury Live Literature Nights is a live event where an author reads to us from one of their books. Readings will be followed by lively discussion and food. The event is free to attend.
How will I pay for this?
I've launched a crowdfund on Spacehive to pay for the authors and their travel, locally catered food, the venue, and to let people know about the events. If I get more money than I've asked for in the crowdfund, I'll be able to pay musicians. There's something welcoming about music and food that makes an event feel welcoming.
This project brings me one step closer to hosting my own show where I get to talk to authors about their books, the authors read to me, and I get to introduce readers to authors they may not have known and authors to readers they may not have reached. It's like being a literary matchmaker.
